T-shirts made in Asia, 24-hour Amazon delivery, Russian oil at the local pump—these are just some of the examples that fuel the image of a smooth and seamless globalization. But this fluidity is merely an illusion, and globalization is a series of local frictions constantly negotiated by multinational corporations. In the case of fossil fuel companies, these frictions could escalate into genuine conflicts during the ecological transition.
